Energy and Water Usage Benefits
Solar and Wind Powered Energy: Eight solar panels and a four-foot wind generator power nearly everything: low-voltage lights, computers, printers and copiers, coffee pot, refrigerator and microwave, LCD screens and speakers. Only the trailer’s high-efficiency air-conditioning system, used only when necessary, requires electric energy.
Natural Light: The Green trailer offers three times the natural light than a typical trailer, reducing the need for artificial light. Solar shades on the windows allow in light but not weather—reducing heating and cooling loads by 40 percent—and diffuse bright light into a warm glow throughout the trailer.
Spray Foam Insulation: A normal trailer has little to no insulation. By eliminating air leakage, spray foam insulation reduces energy costs by as much as 30 percent.
Energy Positive: The trailer’s energy efficiency is so impressive that it is energy positive, contributing power
(tool charging and other needs) in addition to serving its
own needs.
Composting Toilet: A composting toilet instead of a Johnny-on-the-Spot saves nearly 1,600 gallons of water a year based on one person’s usage.
